Biography

Amelia Courtney Hritz is an attorney in BraunHagey & Borden’s New York office. She represents clients in a broad range of matters including appeals, intellectual property litigation, and criminal defense.  

Amelia served as a law clerk to the Honorable Peter W. Hall of the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and a public interest fellow litigating capital and juvenile life without parole cases.  

Amelia was the first student to receive a J.D. and Ph.D. through Cornell University’s joint law and psychology program. She continues to publish academic articles exploring the role of bias in sentencing and parole decisions and memory errors in confessions and eyewitness statements. She has published in several journals including the American Journal of Criminal Law, Texas Law Review, and UCLA Law Review and has presented at academic conferences and CLE programs. 

Personal

Amelia lives in New York. In her free time, she enjoys kayaking on Cayuga lake, taking her bulldog to the park, and rooting for the New York Yankees.
