Biography

Tabitha Cohen is a litigation attorney in BraunHagey & Borden’s New York office. Her practice focuses on bringing impact litigation cases in state and federal courts to protect and advance the rights of underserved communities. Tabitha has spent most of her legal career focusing on high-stakes commercial and civil litigation in state and federal courts, white collar enforcement and investigations, and appellate litigation. Tabitha was also a fellow and staff attorney at the Office of the Appellate Defender, where she represented clients in felony appeals before the New York Appellate Division, First Department.

During law school, Tabitha served as Co-Executive Director of the Harvard Prison Legal Assistance Project, through which she successfully argued an impact litigation case before the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court that expanded Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) protections to disabled prisoners seeking parole. Tabitha was also a student attorney with the Harvard Criminal Justice Institute, through which she represented adults and juveniles in Massachusetts criminal courts, and the Harvard Immigration & Refugee Project, through which she represented clients in their asylum and Special Immigrant Juvenile (SIJ) petitions in immigration court. Personal

Tabitha lives in New York City with her husband, where she can usually be found trying to work obscure produce from the local farmer’s market into her Puerto Rican cooking to serve at dinner parties for her friends and family.
